Life began for the university on 17 May 1841 when the York Central Diocesan Society opened a new training school on Monkgate, where those wanting to become teachers in the diocese’s schools, would receive proper training.
York St John are still training teachers today and we work closely with them, attending teaching events, job fairs and talks, recruiting their PGCE graduates for supply work and other students for temporary roles.
As part of their celebration, York St John are planning a series of events and public talks throughout the year to mark the occasion. Talks are FREE and we will feature these in future news. Watch this space!
We wish all the students and staff at York St John all the best for this celebration year.
