This annual international festival will run for 2 weeks around International Women’s Day, celebrated globally on 8 March and to be held in York.

The festival will feature a wide variety of events designed to entertain, educate, share skills, raise awareness and stimulate debate for women and communities in and around York.

Rose Drew, a member of the festival’s organising committee, said: “We have had a large increase in the number of people wanting to put on events for the festival this year.

“There is something for everyone.”

Kicking off the festival on March 1 will be an event called ‘Resurrection Women – Men Too!’ with poet and storyteller F. Mary Callan performing her poetic insights into the Resurrection story.
