WorkwithYork are seeking an experienced Building Control Surveyor to work within a Public Sector Organisation. The role will be starting in early September in York and will be for a period of approximately 3 months.
To be successful in this position, you will need a strong knowledge of construction and building regulations backed up by formal qualifications. Ideally you will also have at least 2 years of regulatory experience in a commercial construction setting. You will need to be a very strong team player, able to motivate and get things done on time and within budget.

- Responsible for the delivery of appropriately allocated Building Control functions and duties. Reporting to the Head of Building Control & Property or Principal Building Control Surveyors
- Contribute to the provision of a responsive advice service to deal with enquiries from other council staff, elected Members and the general public in Building Control and related matters
- Undertake site inspections as required to meet planned inspection regimes for projects. Provide feedback to clients, contractors and/or agents. Complete site records, issue contravention letters or notices and completion certificates as required.
- Plan decisions on any submitted proposals needed to ensure compliance with minimum standards. Poor decision making has the potential to adversely affect the health, safety, welfare and convenience of the public.
