WorkwithYork and our sister company WorkwithSchools are proud to support Kitchen for Everyone York (KEY).

Originally started in late 2015 by Dave Hobman the ambition of KEY was to fill a gap in services to for homeless and vulnerable people in York providing a Sunday morning breakfast at the Spurriergate Centre in York City Centre.  KEY then introduced Tuesday evening sessions in May 2017 serving a 3-course dinner and the Saturday evening outreach sessions in October 2017. The sessions aren’t just about food, volunteers are always there to have a chat, help with advice and offering support materially to people who are moving into accommodation and need help with furniture and household items.

Our Branch Manager Carolyn Clarke volunteers at KEY and she approached us to see if we could help as KEY is staffed entirely by volunteers and relies on funding and food donations from the general public and York businesses.

To support KEY this Christmas, the WorkwithYork and WorkwithYork schools staff, based at our Kings Court and 22 Pavement offices, decided to spend their own Secret Santa money, totalling £155, on essential clothing (hats, gloves, socks and underwear), hand warmers and toiletries for the KEY Christmas Bags appeal, which for some people will be the only gift they receive this year.

In January 2019 we’ll be using some of the funding towards their re stocking of food reserves.

This year, WorkwithYork are proud to have pledged to support KEY with £500 to help their fantastic project and it’s great to see first-hand the difference we can help to make within our local community.
