The WorkwithYork team shared a wonderful evening with truly inspirational people at this year’s Community Pride Awards.

WorkwithYork were proud sponsors of two of the award categories including ‘Teacher of the Year’ and ‘School of the Year’.  Karen Bull, our Operations Manager, presented both awards to the winners.

TEACHER OF THE YEAR 2016

SUE CORDELL AT MILLTHORPE SCHOOL

Sue has been teaching children at Millthorpe School for more than 25 years.  She was described as a ‘true York hero’ by colleagues and one of Sue’s nominees commented “She is symobilc of what teaching is all about.  Few will realise the tireless, relentless and ultimately incredibly positive work that Sue does to support many young people in York”.

Clare Gomez and Tracey Ralph of Westfield Primary School accepted their ‘School of the Year’ award.  The award recognises schools encouraging children to get the best start in life.  The judging panel said Westfield was a ‘first class school that staff, parents and children should be proud of’.  One nominee said ‘I love the school as the staff are all approachable, friendly and caring and really want the children to succeed in life, not just at their school work’.

We were delighted to present the awards to such worthy winners and very proud to be a sponsor of this event.
